Volunteer Opportunities

The Eaton Rapids Greyhound Band Program relies on the Band Boosters for support.  To the point: our band program DOES NOT FUNCTION without the help of this organization to which you all belong.   There are many ways you can “lend a hand to support our bands” including these below.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact the person listed or Robin Elliott at email address gkrelliott@yahoo.com or call 663-1403. If you are present at the concert, you can find Robin at the Bake Sale, near the “Volunteer Display.” Simply stop by and let her know of your interest!

BAKING:
We are looking for families with baking skills to make treats for our March 3rd, Pre-Festival Concert and our May 19th, Spring Concert!

BAKE SALES:
If you are interested in helping with the selling of baked goods at your band student’s concert, please let us know. The setting up of tables begins about one hour before the concert. A “starter-bank” will be provided.  The selling of baked goods, begins as soon as people begin to show up. You will sell pre-concert, during the switching of bands, and post-concert. This allows you to see the entire show. At the end of the night, the money will be given to the coordinator present (either Robin Elliott or Cheryl Smith).

CORN SALES: We are looking for volunteers who will help the band by selling Prays Sweet Corn. This job asks for you to volunteer for at least one Saturday morning (9-whenever the corn is gone) from late July to early September. The coordinator will bring the corn to the Farmers’ Market and be responsible for setting up the tent and taking care of the money both before and after sales. When selling, you may want to bring a lawn chair. This is a great way to help the band!

COORDINATOR for CORN SALES:
Carolyn Rocheleau TRochele@frontier.com
has been in charge of corn sales for a long time. With her youngest child graduating next year, she is looking for someone to spend the next year working with her to transition the role of Coordinator. She is the best person to speak with in regards to this duty. Please contact Carolyn if you have an interest.

SEAMSTRESS:
There are always little jobs needed for people with this skill. Right now, we have the material for skirting for the Marimba, Vibraphone, and/ or Xylophone, but we need someone who is able to sew the skirting. If you have noticed these instruments on stage, you have seen the industrial look. We would like to make the equipment look more professional and believe skirting will help. We also have some Sousaphones (marching band tubas) that need to have “hats” made. If interested, you could assist Angie English, our Uniform Coordinator, with marching band uniform fittings and alterations.

POSSIBLY THE EASIEST WAY TO VOLUNTEER AND EARN MONEY IN YOUR FAMILY BAND ACCOUNT: SCRIP
Look to the website to find out ways to start increasing your band student’s account; this really works! If you have any questions, you can contact Juli Luttrell or pick up an informational sheet in the lobby before the concert.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:
Would you enjoy writing articles for the local newspapers to promote upcoming band performances and share the accomplishments of our great bands with the community? Maybe creating a monthly band newsletter for parents, band supports and alumni is a good fit for you.  Contact Mary Kay Boulanger at 857-4307 or email BandBoosters@ERMichigan.com to learn more or offer a hand!

VISITOR SIDE FOOTBALL CONCESSIONS:
Band Boosters operates this concession during all home football games and is a wonderful fund-raiser for us.  We are looking for someone to oversee the concessions and also people to work during a game.

BAND BOOSTER OFFICER POSITION:
In the next couple months, we will be looking to elect a new slate of officers and we are in need of people to fill those positions.  Please look over the relevant sections of our by-laws (available on the “Band Booster” page of the web site) and if you see a position (or two!) where you think you may be able to contribute.  Contact a Mr. Rupp, Mr. Gumbrecht or Chris Larson at 646-0256 or email address ChrisLarson@ERMichigan.com for more information.
